I can't tell you how good reading this made me feel. As someone trying to get an idea off the ground, I have had a meltdown to my daughter this morning about how this all feels like a 2,000 piece jigsaw, where everyday more pieces get added to the picture than I can put together each day, and it is currently at 15,000 pieces. Whilst I have the corners and the edges done, the picture itself is a single colour block (most likely black based on how I am feeling) and I am just moving these pieces about with no plan at all to get them connected. This post has given me some inspiration and made me realise I am not alone, weird or a freak. I need a plan - and today I am going to create my own safe space and start to work out what tomorrow looks like - and not what the next 5 years looks like. Thank you Katie!
That's just brilliant Helen. There is always the murky bit in the middle before the light returns - I suppose we need to allow ourselves to wallow there for a while until we find the next right piece of the puzzle! So much pressure to have all the answers straight away and so often life and creativity and ideas don't work that way - just that everyone so often shared the showreel so we think they have gone from A to B in a flash but it's VERY rarely the case. 😍
Thank you - again, that response is so helpful. I am going to have a wallow and work out what I need to do today, to be in a better position tomorrow. I look forward to that first piece of the jigsaw falling into place
i think that concentrating on things that are going well is a brilliant strategy for a) positive mental health; b) moving forward; c) feeling grateful for small things. I spent half an hour at lunch time looking at all the beautiful roses in my garden and getting some much needed "me" time.
And having a plan helps you to feel in control (even if the plan changes all the time, like mine does!!)
This is so refreshing to read. The ‘I earn money whilst I sleep through passive income’ seems to be the main messages I see on social media.
Well.. if that’s true, good for them but where are those who are navigating running a business and who actually want to make it fit around being a mum too? It’s an absolute rollercoaster ride!
Small consistent actions is my big takeaway from this. Thank you for sharing so openly your reality. I’m going to keep putting one foot in front of the other. 💪💕
Thanks for this Julia I am slowly shifting the narrative for me and my work - I cannot hustle all the time for new clients spread myself across all social platforms - promote by book consistently- fulfil my existing client duties and be there for my kids in the current chapter of life I am in. I am choosing to say to myself what I’m doing is good enough - ☺️🙃
Loved this Katie - I'm also focusing on what's working in my business (which means my life) in my newsletter this month - it's so easy to pick at ourselves ALL the time. I really want to give the ChatGPT plan idea a go too!
